“The fantasies of the past, determined by the needs of the present, have a direct impact on the realities of the future. The consideration of the future makes us take responsibility for our nostalgic tales”

The "Memories for the Future" project aimed to encourage reflection on childhood and youth memories, contemplating what we had left behind, what we missed, or what still persisted through places, with a particular focus on Ankara. From this perspective, it sought to delve into how our memories influenced both our present and future, prompting creative thinking on how these potent images could shape what lay ahead using creative tools to imagine our future utopias and dystopias.
The workshop followed the methodology of previous years' workshops ("Ulus in Memories, 2019," "Stories of Yenisehir, 2020+2021," and "Col'harmonyAnkara, 2022"), which we referred to as "creative remembrance." This time, we collected memories and future aspirations using an online questionnaire with workshop participants to craft our exhibition, employing collages, poetry writing, and mapping techniques to share the imaginaries of the past and the future in the city.
