Stories of Yenisehir
workshop + exhibition│ 2020 + 2021 (second opening after the cancelation of the first due to Covid-19)
Chamber of Urban Planners, Ankara, Turkey

YeniÅŸehir, the modern heart of Ankara, is a district constantly in flux, where abandoned or transformed projects stand as monuments to both change and resistance. In a recent workshop, this ongoing transition was likened to the turbulent journey from childhood to adolescence, and from adolescence to young adulthood—an ideal metaphor for exploring themes of incompleteness and transformation.

The workshop delved into the childhood and youth narratives of YeniÅŸehir, recognizing that everyday memories play a crucial role in shaping the city's narrative and vice versa. Participants conducted interviews with individuals who spent their formative years in YeniÅŸehir, capturing their memories through video and audio recordings. These recollections were then creatively recreated, producing a series of images and stories that formed a collective memory map.
